  About Us

CGNK is a volunteer based non-profit organization. Through fundraising and outreach we focus on improving the lives of children and families in the Northern Kentucky area. Each year we host one event as the primary fundraiser for our organization. The funds generated support the CGNK Shoe Fund, the CGNK Quarterly Donation Program, and a local charity that we have selected for that year.

  • Shoe Fund:The CGNK Shoe Fund, which represents the beginning chapter of CGNK, provides hundreds of shoes annually to underprivileged school children in Northern Kentucky by issuing vouchers for shoe purchases. The vouchers are distributed by local schools, churches and social service agencies. Recipients redeem shoe vouchers for up to $25 towards any shoe purchase at the Newport K-Mart. In fact over the past several years we have provided nearly 400 pair of shoes to local children annually.
  • Charities Committee: The Charities Committee organizes donation and volunteer opportunities for the group. Charities Guild members often work behind the scenes to raise money for local charities , but they also enjoy opportunities for hands on involvement. During 2007-2008 CGNK donated meals to the ECHO Soup Kitchen and cleaned toys at the Brighton Center, collected school supplies for area schools, sponsored families through the Brighton Center at Christmastime and hosted a gourmet bake sale during the Ft. Thomas Holiday Walk. Members participated in the Nutrition Council walk, served dinner at the ECHO Soup Kitchen and helped with the Excellent Home Makeover project for Shoulder to Shoulder, Inc.

Additionally, the Charities Committee donates up to $500 each quarter to a local charity.
2007-2008 donations include:

  • The ECHO Soup Kitchen - $500
  • 4PAWS for Ability -$500
  • I Have Wings -$500
  • St. Catherine Belize Mission -$250
  • The Luke Muller Fund -$250
  • Littlest Star: This committee coordinates requests from Children’s Hospital StarShine Project. StarShine, the hospice of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, reaches out to support children and families facing terminal illness. StarShine is there to meet the medical, spiritual and emotional needs of children and everyone who cares for them.
  • Fundraising Committee: The Fundraising Committee supervises a CGNK fundraising activity (Tour of Homes) after the fundraising proposal has been adopted by a majority vote of the membership. Once a year, the members of CGNK vote on a few local charities that have been nominated and represented by a CGNK member. The charity that obtains the most votes from the members will benefit financially from the upcoming fundraising activity.
  • Social Committee: The Social Committee coordinates social events for the CGNK members, which in turn, generates some funding for the other CGNK committees.
