ISSUE no. 2 – May 2010
From The President
Welcome to the 2nd edition of our Alumnae Newsletter. The past year has been a very successful one in our fundraising efforts. We have reached out to our alumnae and they have stepped forward to help. Without you, Charities Guild of Northern Kentucky would not have the local presence it does.
This year is a rebuilding year. We are not having a major fundraiser, but will be relying on all of our members, present and past, to participate in the many smaller events we have planned. From volunteering at Maifest and Oktoberfest in Covington, to attending the Rusty Ball- we hope to see many of you standing with us.
Our goal is to help build funds in our Shoe Fund, to get back to our roots, and provide as many shoes to local children as possible. Thanks to one and all for continuing to be our support system in pursuing this goal.
-Michelle Story, President 2010
The 2009 Fort Thomas Tour of Homes
Thanks to everyone able to come and support CGNK last October! We were able to raise $20,000.00 for the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center, as well as the funding necessary to put nearly 500 pairs of shoes on local children!!! That is fantastic!!
The 2010 Fundraiser
As our President stated, we are not having a major fundraiser in 2010. Instead, we have decided to go out in the community and do several service projects. If at anytime, you would like to jump in and help out, we would be thrilled to have you with us! We will be participating in Maifest this coming weekend in Covington, and Oktoberfest in September. Last year we were lucky enough to be one of the charities chosen to benefit at the Rusty Ball. By just purchasing tickets to the event in CGNK’s name, we were able to raise $3200.00. We are hoping to be lucky again this year!!
An exciting new project
At our meeting the other night, a very exciting project was unveiled that will only be as successful as our involvement. It will only require an email vote everyday, during the voting period (probably August), to help us raise as much as $25,000.00 for our Shoe Fund. Can you imagine the impact this could have to the kids in our local towns? Please stayed tuned as this project unfolds and moves forward!

Don’t forget about our website. It is currently under some reconstruction, but if you ever want to hop on and see what we are up to, we would love to have you look!
Upcoming Alumnae Event
Our committee is currently investigating some possible events for our alumnae. We are hoping to do something in the Fall. More details to follow in late Summer!
